IACS Fall Post-Season Information
Athletic Dress Code
Please note the dress code for girls’ volleyball. ALL athletic apparel worn by young ladies must be full, modest, and to the oval portion of the knee pad for volleyball. The IACS Athletic Handbook currently states that all athletic apparel should come “at least to the top of knee in length.” In the case of volleyball, this has been defined by the athletic apparel touching the top of knee pad oval (thick, round portion). Please check to make sure each girl is in compliance with this regulation. Note: Athletic apparel reaching only the top of the knee pad band will not be permitted for IACS play. Any girl/team in violation of the policy will not be allowed to play at the IACS State Tournament. The dress code is also to be maintained during the awards ceremonies. Please help the IACS by being “above reproach” in the area of dress code.
Regional Sites
All regional sites for varsity post-season play must meet minimum regulations for court/field dimensions, etc. as outlined by the National Federation and the IACS handbook. Please refer to the Athletic Handbook for the procedures if your facilities do not meet regulations. In addition, proper officials must be secured for regional play. Failure to meet these minimum requirements may result in forfeiture from regional play. Specific requirements for all varsity regional and state tournament sites in soccer and volleyball are listed below:
Soccer
- Field Length (100-120 yards)
- Field Width (55-75 yards)
- Goal Dimensions (8 yards wide x 8 feet high)
Volleyball
- Court Length (60 feet)
- Court Width (30 feet)
- Court clearance (6 feet surrounding each side and end of the court)
- Net Height (7’ 4 1/8”)
- In addition to the above National Federation guidelines, the IACS requires that regional and state tournament sites must have a minimum 20-foot clearance above the court when measured from the floor to the lowest obstruction within the dimensions of the volleyball court.
Regional Priority
When there is a conflict between a regular season game and a regional game on a scheduled regional date, the regional game must take priority. Any regular season games scheduled on regional dates should be scheduled with this understanding. Note: Regional games may be played earlier than the scheduled date if both schools agree. If there is not agreement, then the officially scheduled date will be the required date.
Intolerable Violations
All yellow or red cards received by a coach or player should be reported by both teams to the IACS office immediately. These reports can either be mailed of faxed. It is important that these be sent immediately after the violation (see handbook for time frames). “Intolerable” offenses received throughout the season will have an impact on post-season participation.
